Rugby State Association

We see our main tasks as providing organizational support to our member clubs. We are particularly committed to the further spread of rugby in Upper Austria through the founding of new clubs. We promote the further development of rugby, especially through training, improved youth work, and school sports.

The association's most important achievement is the spread of our sport in Upper Austria, which now has five clubs. Since rugby is still little known to the public, every additional player is already a small success. Furthermore, we are very proud that since our restructuring in 2017, we have managed to grow steadily—especially in the youth sector, where we train the second-highest number of players after Vienna.

Special sporting successes in recent years include the championship title won by the RC Linz U18 team and the vice-national championship title of our women's team. The fourth place recently achieved in the Men's 15s Bundesliga by our Rugby Upper Austria representative team is also a success worth mentioning.

We are particularly proud of our successful youth development work, which has consistently drawn attention to us within Austrian rugby for many years. We regularly succeed in having teams represented in almost all age groups at Austrian championships and international tournaments, challenging the large clubs from Vienna. In addition to our work within the clubs, we try to make our sport more widely known by promoting school rugby. To this end, we visit schools during PE classes, organize summer camps, and offer training for interested sports teachers.

The lack of awareness of our sport in Austria and the associated low media attention is our greatest challenge. Although rugby has been an Olympic sport since 2016, we constantly have to introduce the sport to new people and dispel prejudices. One of our most important goals is therefore to make rugby more widely known.

Digitalization is particularly important to us for simplifying processes and distributing tasks more effectively. Furthermore, knowledge transfer becomes significantly easier whenever there is a change in officials.

Vereinsplaner supports us in this by fulfilling our most important requirements (scheduling, groups). The Vereinsplaner team also provides excellent support during the implementation of the tool and responds to our requirements and wishes very quickly and agilely.
