What is the purpose of the Alpine Gesellschaft Alpenfreunde?

The main purpose of our club is to maintain and operate our two shelters located in Lower Austria. We also organize our club life with regular club evenings, sporting events, hikes, but also cultural trips. As part of VAVÖ, we are also actively involved in designing our hiking trails and maintaining the alpine region in Austria.

What successes were you able to achieve?

We see it as a great success of the club that, although all officials and members are volunteers, we can organize and enjoy regular events in a wide variety of sectors (hikes, wreaths/dancing events, bowling tournaments, mini golf tournaments, breweries/Vöslauer trips,...) with our members.

What are you particularly proud of as a club?

We are particularly proud to be able to look back on more than a hundred years of club history (since 1896) and continue to succeed in getting people excited about nature and the alpine region and working to preserve and shape them.

What challenges do you face as a club?

Larger construction projects

Despite the outstanding achievements of our officials and members, it is difficult to implement larger construction projects due to the ever stricter legal situation.

Generate financial resources

Unfortunately, financing is also a major issue in our area. Membership fees, revenue from beverage sales and subsidies enable us to implement many projects, but are difficult to calculate in advance.

Why is digitization important to you?

Until now, we have used many different platforms (WhatsApp, homepage, analog recordings,...) to organize and manage ourselves. Due to the large number of documents, often in different versions, there were always inconsistencies. We are therefore happy that we now have a platform that supports us in our digital realignment.
