Our guide

Ecology, community and natural wine

What is the purpose of the Ökologische Gemeinschaft Naturwein?

Ecology — for a sustainable future

Vineyards cultivated according to ecological guidelines. Designated retreats for rare animal and plant species. Careful management with reduced yields. Additional environmental protection projects are to be implemented in the various vineyards in the future. And as a club, we are committed to providing education in the area of nature and environmental protection.

Community — Many hands, quick end

Experience the entire process of wine production as a member of ÖGN e.V. Get your hands dirty and climb up stables. Take part in a new form of agriculture. Say hello to the vines and chat with the members at sunset in the vineyard.

Natural wine — wine made from grapes, nothing else

Wine as a natural product, with as little intervention as possible. Wine made from grapes, that's all. Wines with character, not comparable with everyday mass-produced goods. Wild, natural yeast strains, the absence of filtration and the use of time and a small hint of courage.

What successes have you achieved in the past?

Founding of the club and acquisition (by club members) of vineyards on steep slopes in Stuttgart - Bad Cannstatt (location: Cannstatter Zuckerle). Acquisition of the first equipment for managing the vineyards since the beginning of 2022. More information on the ÖGN website.

What makes you particularly proud as a club?

Our members! The use shown in the vineyards is huge. Although most of the members are newcomers to viticulture, we are motivated to tackle the challenges in the vineyards. The conversion of previously conventionally farmed vineyards (with lots of pesticides and systemically active plant protection products) to organic management is a major success of the club and a contribution to environmental protection and the preservation of a cultural landscape in Stuttgart.

What challenges do you face as an club?

The club currently has too few members for the existing vineyards, which is why reliable planning of work assignments is extremely important. The Vereinsplaner-SW provides us with extreme support here. We can announce necessary work (e.g. foliage work, plant protection, etc.) at short notice through appointments and, through the acceptants/cancellations, we can better plan the appointments and, if necessary, stir up the advertising drum again.

Why is digitization important to you?

We are a very young club (founded in 2022), which is why it was clear to us from the start that we wanted to set up as much of our member administration as possible digitally. In addition, we are a somewhat special club that does not operate regularly, but has to react spontaneously to nature/the weather. One solution here is club software that makes this possible.

We use Vereinsplaner because, during the evaluation, the range of functions, the pricing for our club size and needs as well as the active development of the software convinced us.

ÖGN ABOUT Vereinsplaner

“Since the founding of our club, Vereinsplaner has been a very helpful tool with which we were able to set up a lively club life in a short period of time. The members accepted the tool immediately and are actively using it — in addition to major work assignments — to organize themselves. We could not have wished for a better start — despite minor gaps in the range of features, which will hopefully be gradually closed in future versions.”
